Mentor Program at a Glance - 2017 - 2018 Novice Faculty - (Fewer than 4 years of experience) Year One ➢Up to 12 additional contract days, attend mandatory workshops for new faculty ➢ New Faculty Week - Two days of training prior to joining regular staff at beginning of year ➢ Monthly New Faculty Training - Two hour training sessions aligned monthly with District Strategic Plan and best practices ➢Meeting with District assigned Mentor on a weekly basis; feedback provided based upon best practices ➢One day observation of an effective educator
Year Two ➢Up to 12 additional contract days ➢Meeting with District Mentor twice a month; feedback provided based upon best practices ➢ Customized support; Gradual Release ➢ One day observation of an effective educator
Year Three ➢Up to 12 additional contract days ➢Meeting with District Mentor once a quarter or as needed; working toward full release
Year Four Continuing Contract Status if the following requirements are met: ➢Three years of successful administrative evaluations ➢Administrator recommendation for rehire ➢Certified position in NCSD
Experienced Faculty - (4 or more years of experience) Year One ➢Up to 12 additional contract days, may attend workshops for new faculty ➢ New Faculty Week - Two days of training prior to joining regular staff at beginning of year ➢ Support of District Mentor every other week for the first semester and as needed the second semester ➢One day observation of an effective educator
Year Two ➢Up to 12 additional contract days ➢Meeting with District Mentor once a quarter or as needed ➢ One day observation of an effective educator
Year Three ➢Up to 12 additional contract days ➢Support of District Mentor
Year Four Continuing Contract Status if the following requirements are met: ➢Three years of successful administrative evaluations ➢Administrator recommendation for rehire ➢Certified position in NCSD
